Samoa SOS Tsunami Project
NZL Group was involved in two seperate projects that were started to help aid Samoa in the aftermath of the 2009 Tsunami that devastated Samoa.
Tauranga Companies Team Up to Aid Samoa
In a joint partnership local Cargo and Logistics companies C3 Cargo Care, NZL Group, Seatrade and Burnard Internation Freight jointly worked on providing aid to Samoa after the 2009 Tsunami. Coordinating a shipping container to be filled with essential goods Aaron Pearson (C3 Cargo Care) and Wayne Robinson (Burnard International Frieght) assisted by Tauranga Chamber of Commerce sent out a call for help to local businesses. NZL Group was more than happy to step up and offer assistance and joined Seatrade by providing a shipping container that can be used for transporting all the goods to Samoa.
Check out this Bay of Plenty Times News Article for more information on the shipment sent to Samoa.
NZL Group / Omanu Primary School Team Up

Here is some feedback we received
- An incredible logistics plan. These guys worked quickly and diligently to get this urgent freight over to our extended family in Samoa after the 29 September Tsunami.
- Thanks Deb. You guys have been very generous with the container - to be able to leave it for the school is indeed a wonderful gesture and as the school is not standing currently it will enable the goods to remain secure until it can be put to good use.
- Hi Guys. Just a quick email with a couple of photos to update our weekends progress... Well after a huge effort over the last week by a wonderful team of parent helpers, teachers and principals, 16 schools contributions, and literally hundreds of excited children I am pleased to tell you the container is all packed and ready for its departure!! (Mount Primary School)
- It is indeed a box of goodies for the recipients in Samoa loaded with everything from a new barbeque, weed-eater, desks for each teacher, 170 new backpacks for each child at the school filled with stationary, resource boxes for each teacher filled with chalk, dusters, calculators, clocks, new pencils, crayons etc, 6 large blackboards, 6 large pin boards, new sports gear galore, dozens of boxes of community clothing, linen, tools, toiletries, toys etc, approx 300 care boxes, 5 children’s bikes ..... the list goes on. A truly outstanding effort.
- Thank you so much to all involved from sponsors to packers, to schools and teachers, mums and dads, suppliers, all the kids.
