Control Of Operations
Indentification and Traceability
All dairy products transported by the company are identified and traceable through the following documentation:
- Consignment advice, waybill or docket: records the source, date of cartage, product name, quantity; travels with the consignment, a copy is kept by consignor.
- Additionally the daily vehicle Running Sheets, the GPS database and the Transport Management System record the physical routes of the vehicles.
Incoming Goods
When chemicals are used to wet clean the decks, floors, curtains and tarps, only chemicals which are approved for use in dairy stores will be used.
Non-conforming Dairy Produce/Product
Dairy produce/product damaged or potentially contaminated whilst in transit is segregated in an area designated “Goods on Hold” on arrival at the receiving store. The truck driver must ensure that the consignor or owner of the product is immediately informed of the damage/potential contamination through the use of the NZL Initial Incident Reporting forms held in each vehicle. The owner of the product is responsible for ensuring that:
- NZFSA is advised of the non-conforming produce/product within 24 hours.
- All potentially non-conforming produce/product is managed and disposed of in compliance with Fonterra/NZFSA standards.
Pest Management
Procedures to minamise pests and ensure the suitability of all vehicles include:
- Decks and floors must be clean of any debris and dirt, and must be dry.
- Decks and floors must be free of objectionable odours.
