Premises, Facilities and Equipment
Trucks are suitable for and capable of safely handling dairy produce/product. Requirements include:
- Fully enclosed tautliner vehicles should be used for palletised producy.
- Skelton truck and trailer or swinglift units should be used for containers.
- Cargo must be loaded and secured in compliance with the LTNZ Truck Loading Code.
- All vehicles cleaned as per the company Hygiene Protocol (appendix 3) using the services of Tranzclean Mount Maunganui Ltd as the cleaning subcontractor.
Maintenance, Housekeeping and Hygiene
Procedures to assess and ensure the suitability of all vehicles include:
- Decks and floors must be clean of any debris and dirt, and must be dry.
- Decks and floors must be free of objectionable odours.
- Tautliner curtains must be cleaned as per Hygiene Protocol when the inside gets dirty.
- Decks and floors are inspected by personnel employed by the loading site before loading commences. Any vehicles not meeting required standards of presentation are prohibited from loading.
- Rejected vehicles are sent off site for cleaning.
- “Special” cleans will be programmed immediately in the event of detected contamination in any vehicle.
Health and Hygiene
Infectious and Notifiable Diseases Regulations 1966 (Amendment No 2 1978). No contact of cholera, diphtheria, dysentery (amoebic or bacillary) enteric fever, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis non A or B, a salmonella infection, or streptococcal sore throat (including scarlet fever), shall engage in the manufacture, preparation, handling or sale of food (including milk, cream, or ice cream) until he/she has been proved by microbiological examination, in the case of disease other than hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis non A or B, to be free of infection or has been permitted to do so by the Medical Officer of Health.
Any person who is or suspects that they may be suffering from any of the above or who have had a known contact with any other sufferer MUST notify one of the accountable people immediately. The OSH Manager will hold all records for health and Hygiene. The OSH Manager must be satisfied of that the person is fit to return to work before the person returns.
Staff are expected at all times to keep themselves and their clothing in a clean and tidy condition.
Visitors to Dairy Stores/Sites
Smoking is not permitted within the store or during the handling and transfer of dairy products.
Staff/Visitors must always conduct themselves in a professional manner.
In the event of non-conformance to the RMP or the above procedures, Staff/Visitors will be made aware of their error. Further non-compliance will ultimately result in disciplinary action and potential banning from the site.
