Tauranga Builders Bid To Help Build House in Mexico

We raised $200 through the Trade Me auction – thank you soooooo much!!!

Plenty of local builders have used a shipping container to store tools and materials on the building site, but none of them have used it to help build a house in Mexico. Not yet anyway.

That’s all set to change as local builders are invited to bid on one months rental of a 20ft NZL Cube. The winning builder can have the container delivered and collected from any site in the Tauranga Metropolitan area, and proceeds will be donated to two Tauranga teenagers who are heading to Mexico on a house building mission.

The two teenagers, Courtney Tilby and Olivia Scott-Price, are travelling with a team of volunteers who will be building houses in the slums of Tijuana. They have had to raise approximately $4000 each, and thanks to months of fundraising activities, they are almost there. They hope that this auction will get them the last bit of money they need, and the pair think it’s a good way to get local builders involved.

“I know there are heaps of builders who would love to experience what I’m getting to experience” says Courtney Tilby. “This way, it’s like I can help build on their behalf.”

“We’ll bring back loads of before and after photos, and the builders will be able to display them and say I helped build that. I reckon that would be a cool thing for them to share with their clients.”

NZL Group regularly supports community groups by donating the use of a shipping container for various projects, and they are pleased to be able to help Courtney and Olivia with their Mexico Building Project.
