"Lift and Shift" Heavy Haulage Power Project

"Lift and Shift" Transport Project for Two Mighty Geothermal Power Stations.

When choosing a company to transport your, usually, very expensive piece of machinery or construction components to site, it can be difficult to decide who are the transportation experts. We think we are. Explaining what our transportation experts do around logistics project management, plus arranging our company transport, we believe this is what makes us stand out from the rest and of course, our excellent customer service delivering on time with no damage to your equipment, freight or construction machinery.

Murray Leacock’s, Crane and Construction Manager at NZL, most recent involvement in project management involved the transportation of geothermal power station components needing delivery to both the Ngawha Geothermal Power Station north of Whangarei and the Kawerau Geothermal Power Station in the Bay of Plenty. Murray organised the “lift and shift” operation of these large components as well as hundreds of loads of smaller pieces to the sites. No mean feat when you see the size of those power stations and it is a challenge only someone of Murray and his team’s expertise could confidently take on.

The components for both sites arrived on the same ship, first call at the Port of Auckland where our NZL transport team arranged the components freight up north. The ship then headed south to Tauranga where Murray’s right hand man Operations Manager, Joe Waru, based in Hamilton met the ship and took over arranging the courier of components south bound to Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty.

Strength around having fleet and operations people in different regions throughout New Zealand means we can run virtually identical operations wherever a port or depot requires us to. Murray has only heard positive feedback on this project and now we are really excited to work on similar operations. If you would like to talk to Murray and his team on how we can ensure your freight, big or small, is delivered on time with no damage, ring us now on:
